Another reason why fake reviews suck is that when people realize what you did to get them to your site, you lose all credibility with them.

That's why I'm not with that group that was "sorta" featured in that video. I couldn't associate myself with that kind of misleading representation.

Great point Daegan, on the "fake reviews," or in this case,
the "absent reviews.." I have a fake review pet peeve myself & I warn internet marketing newbies about the landmines inherent in searching for a business opportunity online. I challenge anyone to find ANY truly neutral, legitimate "review" site, article, or claim.(In the make money online niche at least).

I'm sure you are as frustrated as I am, when hearing prospects complain that everyone online pitching an opportunity, is trying to rip them off.

When you take a good look at the Google ads though, it appears they are not as paranoid or negative as they sound. The false, misleading, and/or exaggerated ads online are rampant. Here's an article, for newbies as a warning, and for us internet marketers, as a reminder, that newbies are taking our ads literally- believing they really will "get rich quick" and if they don't- they were "scammed." Therefore, we should stop advertising lies; even if from our perspective, 'that's just marketing' or 'everyone's doing it..'

    - Your "Fake Review" example, Daegan, serves as a classic example, of what has become so commonplace among online marketers, that it seems harmless, can actually be criminal fraud. Here's the article link:

  4. Hi Daegan

To be honest with you I'm a little disappointed that you didn't share my last comment with your other readers about what I shared with you about digging a little deeper into this subject.

If you don't want to give out my website you have my permission to go to my website, copy the article (Scam - Fraud - Warning - Beware!!!!) and re-print it here yourself. - (I didn't see the article the first go - Daegan)

Here You Go: "Scam - Fraud - Warning!"

Scam - Fraud - Warning - Beware!!!! You are about to get scammed in the next few minutes and you don't even realize it!

Unfortunately some Internet marketers have found a way to draw attention to themselves using the good name of professional marketers to do so - just like in the "fake" headline above ... but it gets people's attention. It got your attention, didn't it? Take a look at some of the actual headlines below to see how this SCAM works:

Beware Cory Rudl ... 98.3% of 'Guru' Sites Are Scams. Don't Pay 'til You Read This Guide.

You see, Cory Rudl was a great Internet Marketer but unfortunately Cory was killed in a tragic car accident June 3, 2005. See the full story here. So who would stoop so low to use a dead person's name in their ad for their own gain? Internet scum, that's who.

And then these guys who use these low-life tactics post their links for their own program - talk about low! It's a shame Google, MSN, Yahoo or any search engine even allows this false, misleading and copyright infringement type of advertising because they sure do not have our permission to use our names.

The truth is, you know that you are truly a professional when these malicious Internet Hustlers begin slanderous, false misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation and good name, just so they can try and make a few bucks off the professional's back. What they need to do is get a real Internet business of their own that pays them halfway decent and they wouldn't have to stoop to such low measures to try and drum up business.

So Beware!!! Now that you know ... Don't fall for their unscrupulous, misguided information.

I might start a fight but here goes... I have to defend mlm lead system pro, because those capture pages actually use a built in feature that anchors entire articles onto the squeeze page itself.

I am willing to bet that Daegan's name is anchored in blue text at the bottom of that seemingly non relevant capture page and connected to a full review for Daegan Smith.

That is one of the ways around the google slap... neat huh?

In any event Daegan is still the man.

i was on a webinar with your buddy Jonathan Budd...and he stressed the importance of congruency in ppc adds...and said that they are far more effective when they are congruent...this is proves it..
    Great stuff

  9. #9 Ian Belanger says:

When you are at the top of your game, like you are Daegan, people will always try to play off your name and reputation to better themselves. I totally agree with you man, if you are offering a review, give the people what you are promising. Dishonest people make it much harder for us honest people to run an online business. Keep the awesome videos coming!

  10. #10 Paul Butler says:

    Hey Daegan,
All in the name of marketing. When people use your name for a pay-per-click campaign that is awesome. That means your name has relevancy. It is misleading to use a name and have a link to something totally off topic. This is the modern version of the old bait-and-switch tactic.
    You rock bro!!!
